Your Material, Your Shape:

We have made enormous, asymetric lampshades to go on reclaimed lamp posts, tiny candle shades for delicate Victorian wall lights, hexagonal shades and a multitude of other unusual shapes, using many different types and styles of material. You can also order Dog Beds and Bean Bags in your own material.

Help Choosing a Shape or Material:

Matching the right shade to a particular lamp base can be difficult and we enjoy helping you to get it right. We have assisted individuals with a single lamp and regularly advise leading designers on bespoke shades for exotic one-off pieces or tricky bases. We have a comprehensive Source Book in our studio containing hundreds of patterns, together with rainbows of plain silks and linens. You can also choose bespoke linings for your shade, perhaps metallic gold in place of our standard cream card or a contrasting silk for a gathered shade. 

We can make shades in pretty much any shape or size, but if you are after more standard sizes, looking at our Size & Fittings Guide might help, however if you are unsure of which shade size to choose, you can email us a photograph of your lamp with its dimensions, come to our studio in Pimlico in London or book a Zoom appointment. 

Restoration:

We can recover your old lampshade frame with new material so that you can keep the shape you love. We can also rewire your vintage lamp finds with stylish coloured silk flex, restore old lamps and convert vases, candlesticks, glass jars, even special wine bottles, to make a unique base for you.

Trimming:

Bold patterned shades have their place, as do our plain linens but if you are looking for something in between, something a little different but subtle, come to the studio where we have a large collection of trimmings. You can use patterned braids or coloured bindings to reflect a colour in your room or on your lamp base. Trimmings draw attention to edging so the lampshade has to be beautifully made. Fitting Guide

If your lampshade is to hang as a ceiling light we make it with a pendant fitting at the top of the shade. Otherwise, we will make it in our standard way with what’s known as a duplex fitting. This then sits on a shade carrier, fits all standard and table lamps and allows you to adjust the height of the shade to suit your base. So for ceiling light, please choose CEILING and for standard and table lamps please choose LAMP BASE FITTING

The exception to this is if you choose a small lampshade for a lamp base when we use a fixed fitting at the bottom of the shade. Because the shade is relatively small, we think this looks better. Tall Drum Dimensions

This drum is a little longer than many you will find in the shops and as such has a more contemporary and unusual look. It suits both table and standard lamp bases and works very well as a ceiling light.

French Drum Dimensions

Another classic design which lends itself to most lamp bases. We have experimented with a number of similar shapes and think that the slope of its sides is just about right.

Candle Shade Dimensions

Our candle shades come as 3/4 cones or full cones. If your light is fixed close to the wall or the sconces are close together, 3/4 cones work perfectly.
